Thermal Camera System
Omega Ultra-compact, lightweight, fully integrated design that puts thermal imaging where it has never fit before.

Indigo produced VOx microbolometer detectors combined with proprietary on-focal-plane signal processing produces uncompromising image quality and incredible thermal resolution (<40 mK when normalized to f/1.0).

Complete elimination of traditional thermoelectric (TE) stabilization allows operation with ultra-low power consumption and a time to first image of less than 2 seconds. Both analog RS-170A (CCIR) and 14-bit digital outputs for direct support of machine vision and imaging applications.

Basic System Performance

The basic AirFoil Thermal Imaging system can function in day or night with the use of lighted blades and helicopter lighting or with the use of Version 3 night vision glasses where helicopter lighting needs to be at a minimum.

The system can function in extreme conditions from below 0 to above 100 degrees and in winds up to 40 mph. One of the only weather conditions to limit the system use is rain or heavy snow most all other conditions would allow the system to function properly.

The helicopters working range is about 1 ½ miles or a visual line of site. Generally the system is flown within 1500 to 2000ft from the pilot and under 100ft altitude. Flight time depends on weather conditions but will be around 20-30 minutes flight durations.

The Thermal imaging camera is designed to work in day or night and to notice a temperature or image difference of 1 degree. This system can assist City Police and fire departments as well as the State Police and Sheriffs departments in search and rescue of lost individual or fugitives on the run or held up in a building. It also will be a valuable tool for the Fire Departments in seeing from the air where the hot spot is in a building without having to risk the life of a Fireman.

The greatest thing about the system is it eliminates putting someone at risk. Its an unmanned helicopter with the ability to see in the dark or light by the use of heat signatures and cover large areas in minutes instead of hours which could be the difference between life or death.

Basic Operations
This is a two man operation which requires a pilot and a cameraman in communications with each other at all times. Once on site the cameraman will setup the Downlink monitor and camera mount as well as turning on the equipment like the Thermal camera and camera mount gyro and so on.

The helicopter runs on a basic gas oil mix similar to a weed eater. The helicopter pilot will fuel the helicopter and run a quick preflight then start the machine and let it warm up. Once the helicopter is ready to go its placed on top of the camera mount and the cords are pulled over the skids to secure the mount. This will take approximately 5 minutes at which you are now ready for take off to assist in what ever the situation maybe.

The unit works by sending the thermal images through a video transmitter onboard the Helicopter to the ground to be taped and viewed in real time which also allows the cameraman to search and have a birds eye view of the situation. Generally taping is done on board the helicopter for a clean digital image but with the Thermal Cam the image is taped on a DV recorder on the ground for later viewing.

Keep in mind that as the pictures above show with a video camera like the Panasonic 953 you have the potential to shoot 3ccd video for the news as well as shoot 3 mega pixel still shots for the news paper while at the same time Thermal imaging for the authorities.
